Often times, we find patients are unhappy with the alignment of their teeth, but live with it since they don’t want to have braces.

Dr. Bolding uses two techniques to straighten teeth without the need for metal braces, ClearCorrect and Inman Aligners.

ClearCorrect

ClearCorrect aligners straighten your teeth without metal braces.

Benefits of ClearCorrect Invisible Braces for teeth straightening:

  • Invisible: These clear aligners are so subtle most people won’t even notice you are wearing them.
  • Removable: These easy to remove trays allow you to eat any foods you wish without the risk of food getting stuck.

Once we take your measurements and receive your customized aligners, you would wear a series of aligners for roughly 4-6 weeks (depending on severity of your case) and for at least 22 hours a day, over the course of several months.

Here are results that can be achieved through ClearCorrect, invisible braces.

Inman Aligners

The Inman Aligner is the perfect solution for teeth crowding of the front and lower teeth.

Benefits of Inman Aligners for teeth straightening:

  • Effective: These aligners work very quickly to correct crooked front and lower teeth.
  • One Appliance: You will only need one appliance to achieve great results.
  • Removable: These appliances are removed and inserted much like a retainer.

If we determine the Inman Aligner is the right solution for you, then the gentle process will guide your teeth into a straighter position over the course of 6 to 16 weeks (depending on the severity of your case).

Here are results that can be achieved through Inman Aligners, teeth straightening appliances.

Adult Fluoride? Yes Adults Need Fluoride Too!

There is an assumption that only kids need Fluoride, when in actuality adults can see major benefits in regularly receiving Adult Fluoride treatments.

According to a study by the National Institutes of Health (Winn et al, 1996) 38.2% of adults over 55 have experienced at least one incident of root caries. Even as young as 45 years old, the study indicates the occurrence of root caries in almost 30% of all adults.

According the to ADA, “Fluoridation plays a protective role against dental decay throughout life, benefitting both children and adults. Fluoride can not only stop the decay process, but also make the enamel surface more resistance to future acid attacks.

An additional benefit for adults is the prevention of root decay. Adults with gumline recession are at risk for root decay because the root surface becomes exposed to decay-causing bacteria in the mouth. Studies have demonstrated that Fluoride is incorporated into the structure of the root surface, making it more resistant to decay.”

Now, you might be asking, then why haven’t you heard about adult fluoride until now?

It has nothing to do with NOT needing Adult Fluoride treatments, as the research is clear that Fluoride IS in fact beneficial for adults.

More often then not, patients refuse Fluoride treatment as it is typically not covered by standard dental insurance policies. However, we feel it is an integral part of your oral healthcare and should be considered even if out-of-pocket.

5 Simple Steps To Achieve and Keep A Healthy Smile!

1 :: Brush Regularly

Less than 50% of men and just over half of all women brush more than once a day. Take two minutes twice daily to brush with a soft brush and fluoride toothpaste. This simple habit will remove plaque before it has a change to cause decay.

2 :: Floss Daily

Flossing is not optional. Reaching between teeth and below the gumline where disease often starts, flossing removes up to 40% more plaque than brushing alone.

3 :: Eat Healthfully

Poor nutrition affects your entire body, including your ability to fight gum disease. Some nutritious foods, like strawberries, even whiten teeth!

4 :: Take Care

Avoid chewing pens or ice cubes and break nail-biting habit. Wear a mouthguard for sports that have the chance of contact.

Brain Zuerlein entered college thinking he wanted to go to medical school. But an uncle, who was a dentist, noticed his creativity and ability to work with his hands.

As a result, my uncle suggested that I take the entrance exam for dental school. I did and as a junior in college, I was accepted into dental school.
– Dr. Bolding

In fact, it’s the creative factor of his work that is one of the things about being a dentist Dr. Bolding loves. “Not only do I get to work with my hands,” elaborates Dr. Bolding, “but I get to make a difference in peoples’ lives by performing dental services such as cosmetic dentistry, restorations, and pain relief.”

Dr. Bolding’s office is located in the Westroads Office Park at 10110 Nicholas Street, Suite 101 in Omaha. Dr. Bolding prides himself on taking the time necessary with each patient. “I’m a stickler for doing things right,” explains Dr. Bolding. “This is a small dental office and the staff has been here for several years.”

“In fact some of the patients have been coming to this office for over 20 years. There’s very little turnover, so my patients know the staff. We now have families who have grown up with us; brought their children in to us and now their children are bringing in children.”

In addition to setting high standards for himself and his staff, Dr. Bolding stresses continuing education. “There’s always something new to learn,” says Dr. Bolding. “We take far more continuing education than the state requires.” Dr. Bolding exemplifies this in achieving Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, which only 7% of dentists accomplish.

Dr. Bolding offers the latest in dental technology. A service offered by Dr. Bolding is sleep dentistry. “Sleep issues are an enormous factor relating to heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure, and diabetes,” explains Dr. Bolding. “It’s a vicious circle and sleep issues affect a person’s overall health and quality of life. Patients may experience daytime sleepiness, low energy, and memory problems. This can be resolved with a dental appliance that people can wear at night. Patients find enormous benefits from the appliance.”

Dr. Bolding is a family dentist and also offers cosmetic dental services. To discover how to benefit from excellence in dentistry, contact his office at 402.393.4400 or fill our our contact form!

Diabetes and Gum Disease

Diabetes and Gum Disease - Brian Zuerlein DDS

Diabetes and Gum Disease - Brian Zuerlein DDS Omaha Cosmetic Dentist

How does one affect the other?

There is an overwhelming evidence that periodontal disease is directly linked to diabetes. Those with gum disease are at high risk for diabetes and 95% of those with the diabetes have gum disease! It’s a startling fact that half of our adult population has periodontal disease and close to one third of diabetics remain undiagnosed.

Gum disease can signal more than just diabetes. It can also point to serious systemic illness like heart disease, stroke, some cancers, and osteoporosis. It can also advance with little to no symptoms, so be on the lookout for:

  • Red, swollen, or receding gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Persistent bad breath
  • Bleeding when brushing, flossing, or eating
  • A change in your bite.

The good news is that gum disease is preventable and even reversible! Brushing twice daily, flossing every day, and keeping dental appointments go a long way to promoting healthy gums and overall health. If you’re diabetic, it’s important to be extra diligent to prevent gum disease from further influencing blood sugar levels an causing further complications.

February is Dentistry Has A Heart Month…

Oral health is vital to overall health, especially heart health. There is a link between inflammation in the mouth and cardiovascular health.

Here are a few facts to consider:

  • Cardiovascular disease is preventable in many patients.
  • It is estimated that 70% of the adult population in the United States has periodontal disease.
  • Chronic inflammation, of which periodontal disease is the most common, is a leading risk factor in developing heart disease.
  • One in two women will die because of CVD.
  • In addition, stroke, diabetes, pancreatic cancer, pre-term low birth weight and still-born babies can be linked to periodontal disease.
  • Genetic testing has determined that the plaque that builds up below the gumline is the same plaque that deposits in the arteries and causes atherosclerosis.
  • Routine dental care is key for long term overall health.

We want to help our patients prevent health problems. We can help you, call our office if you do not have an appointment.
